JERRY
JERRY
Beerzone's Jerry Springer song recently appeared on the Jerry
Springer show in the US!!!
WORK,
REST & PLAY
The next album will most likely be called "Strangle all
the Boybands".
Beerzone are having the rest of the month off then going to
play about 10 shows in December in Liverpool, Derby, Crawley
x 2, Isle of Wight, Taunton, Brighton, Burgess Hill and a
couple of others.
Beerzone are playing HITS next summer, they will probably
be headlining a second stage as well as playing on a main
stage high up the bill, so that is great news.
NEWS FROM IAIN
The tour has been going pretty well with most shows being
well attended and the new range of merchandise has been really
popular, especially the Beerzone "100% Mental" design
on the hooded sweatshirts. We played with the UK Subs in Portland,
Oregon and had a great laugh.
Bryza has not got married again yet but there are still three
weeks to go so who knows.
Runnin Riot have been traveling with us in our van so it has
been an absolute scream with ten of us in the van, the amount
of good natured scrapping has been phenomenal, all in good
jest though...
Bryza has a new nickname, Micky Junior, due to his drinking
antics with his Irish clone, wee Duane the Runnin Riot drummer.
They have been having more than a few liquid breakfasts much
to the amusement and annoyance of the rest of the van.
TKO Records in San Francisco have told us that the initial
press of the album, 3000 I am told, has basically sold out
which is great news.
Adam met a chick at our Detroit show and never made the show
the next night in Pittsburgh (sounds familiar, doesn't it?)
and Shakespeare the Runnin Riot guitarist more than ably filled
in for what was a great show with constant stage invasions
and a dual band version of Running Riot which brought the
house down, but the big news is Adam announced he is officially
engaged to the girlie.
ALL DAYER MOVED
The November all dayer has been moved until January as the
DKM's are scheduled for the night before in the Garage so
Beerzone and Gundog are playing with them. On File with them
in Scotland and Foreign Legion in Wales. US TOUR Beerzones'
latest tour of the US starts on Sept 21st in Boston where
they play with the Dropkick Murphys at shows in Boston then
New Jersey, State College PA, Grand Rapids OH, Cincinnati
OH, Madison WI and Green Bay WI. Then they head off with Running
Riot and the Vigilantes on their first headline tour of the
US and play Chicago IL, Minneapolis MN, Denver CO, Salt Lake
City UT, Seattle WA, Portland OR, San Francisco CA, Los Angeles
CA, Corona CA, San Diego CA, Phoenix AZ, Albuquerque NM, 2
shows in Texas probably Austin and Dallas, Kansas City MO,
St. Louis MO, Indianapolis IN, Detroit MI, Cleveland OH, Pittsburgh
PA, Philadelphia PA, Richmond VA, Atlanta GA, North Carolina,
Washington DC and then the last three shows are again with
the Dropkick Murphys in New York City, Albany NY and Buffalo
NY.
They are scheduled to hook up with the UK Subs for 2/3 shows
in the Midwest and play on the same bill as both bands were
scheduled to play the same area at the same time.
TRACKS
Beerzone have been in the studio and have finished recording
the track "Running Riot" for the Cock Sparrer tribute
album coming out later this year on Austrian label DSS. They
have also recorded the songs for the upcoming split 7"
with Argy Bargy who approached Iain at the HITS festival in
Morecambe recently with the proposal of a split release which
both bands feel will be very beneficial helping give Beerzone
more exposure in Europe and Argy Bargy more exposure in the
USA. One new song, "Life on the Road" is definitely
one of the two tracks from Beerzone which will be featured
on the 4 track single.
Beerzone have also been asked if they are interested in releasing
another split single on a Japanese label which would also
feature a Japanese band, we are waiting for more information.
The band have been invited to appear on an upcoming compilation
album from 77rpm Records who are based in Los Angeles, other
bands appearing include highly rated outfits The Service,
The Authority, Sister Mary RC and a host of others.
BASQUE HITS
Beerzone have pulled out of September's Holidays in the Sun
Festival in Spain.
COMPILATIONS
Beerzone have been approached to would appear on a compilation
CD of up and coming bands which include The Service, The Authority,
Bladder Bladder Bladder and Sister Mary RC. The label is based
in Los Angeles.......
The Scenekiller2 compilation album Beerzone are on with the
Dropkick Murphys, UK Subs, Business, 999, Menace etc. is apparently
not far off selling 10,000 copies.......
Beerzone go into the studio in the next few weeks to record
"Running Riot" the Sparrer song for a tribute to
them on DSS Records of Austria and one of our new songs for
a compilation on 77rpm Records of Los Angeles.
Beerzone have been included in an A-Z of Streetpunk bands
to be published in the next 6-12 months and includes an entire
history of Oi! and Streetpunk...
ALBUM
You can buy the the album over the Internet from either www.pulped.com
or www.amazon.com
DROPKICK MURPHYS SUPPORT
Dropkick Murphys have asked BEERZONE to play around 10 nights
with them in the autumn with BEERZONE as main support. The
US tour starts on the 21st or the 22nd of September definitely
and they will be playing as main support to the Dropkick Murphys
until October 1st when they head out on the start of our own
headline tour with the Vigilantes and Runnin Riot. The idea
is that BEERZONE tour and then release the second album. They
have seven of the proposed album's songs ready to record which
they have been playing them live. They are getting a great
response so that is a good sign.
BEERZONE were offered a show in Belgium on 7th October but
cannot do it as they will not be here.
DKM's are hoping to visit the UK in the new year and BEERZONE
are down to support.
PULPED
Pulped are giving BEERZONE a half page ad plus a feature of
of at least 2/3 of a page and a feature on their web site.
The issue comes out early September so that will be superb
promotion.
CHART TOPPERS
BEERZONE have stayed in the top 5 of the Pulped sales charts
for the 2nd issue running at No 5 from No 4. George Marshall
says that he is receiving a lot of mail telling him how much
they like the album. To put it in perspective, the Rejects
new album which went in at 2 is out of the top twenty!!
BEERZONE "The Dogs Bollocks" ALL DAYER IN LONDON
BEERZONE play an all-dayer on November 5 at the Camden Underworld
in London. Other bands confirmed so far include,Gundog, Knuckledust,
Red Flag 77, On File, Instant Agony, Emergency Foreign Legion,17
Stitches and Sista Fista. The event is to be sponsored by
Pulped and will be £7 advance and £8 door . CAMDEN
JUNE 2000
The Beerzone gig at Camden on Saturday 10th June was again
recorded on video to be released on Psychofish Tapes in the
next couple of weeks. Also a big thank you to all the bands
that played the gig, Emergency, Foreign Legion and Bug Central
for helping make it a great atmosphere and great night all
round especially everyone who came on stage at the end and
helped round the night off with the now becoming customary,
stage invasion.
BRYZA LOST IN BERLIN
Bryza (drummer) got lost in Berlin without a penny to his
name and missed Beerzone's slot at Holidays In The Sun!!!!
He said he was mugged by a skateboarder/rollerblader somewhere
in Berlin as he wandered round trying to get his bearings.
Rather than pull out Beerzone, played with the mighty Max
Splodge on drums.
US TOUR
The US tour went very well overall apart from the now infamous
shooting incident in Denver and the trouble at the show the
night before in Salt Lake City. At the show in Salt Lake City
we, Beerzone, were very wary of the potential for trouble
from the 'straight edgers' who are an organisation who basically
do not drink, smoke, eat meat, use caffeine or have sex before
marriage and funnily enough with a name like Beerzone we did
not think we would be flavour of the month so to speak with
lyrics like "We don't drink halves 'cos they're too small,
we'd rather stick our head in a bucketful". We were also
on the tour with the Dropkick Murphys when the show got pulled
in Salt Lake City by the law as they had heard that a full-scale
riot had been planned as the DKM's had had a bit of trouble
with them earlier on the 'Warped' tour as they were accused
of promoting drinking. Anyway we played our set and went down
really well with lots of dancing etc. and when the Business
came on they had only played about 3/4 songs when Micky Fitz
was attacked and punched repeatedly by some big guy with a
load of mates with him and when everyone tried to sort it
out someone let off tear gas or something similar and the
show got stopped there and then. Luckily Micky was not hurt
badly and was more just shaken by it all.
Anyway after an all night drive through the mountains in snow
and black ice, the worst I have ever seen with trucks upturned
all along the route, we got to Denver and after all the uproar
about the promoter having the wrong license and kids not being
allowed in, they were thrown out and then allowed back in
which made the atmosphere very strained, we played our set
and the atmosphere got better and better with lots of dancing,
singing along etc. when all hell broke loose outside as Terry
Bones had earlier had a run in with one of the security, a
Mexican guy, and the guy went to the Business tour bus to
have a go a Terry with his mates and after coming off worst,
again, he then proceeded to turn up again in a car and pump
some shotgun bullets into the bus while all the Business,
road crew and friends were on it narrowly missing the driver
and Terry himself. The driver drove through red lights at
speed to get away while the guilty guy had the balls to come
back in to the venue and pretend nothing had happened( I think
to try and get an alibi). Anyway yet again the Business could
not play but thankfully they all lived to tell the tale.
This apart we really enjoyed the tour and were amazed by the
amount of kids etc. who appeared to know every word from our
album and also the amount with Beerzone T-shirts in the audience
as well as the amazing reactions we were getting at a lot
of the shows right across the US. We sold over 700 T-shirts
on the tour and all 400 albums we had with us which is great
as it was already in the shops. All in all the crowds were
great.
Just yesterday we were asked if we would headline a US tour
in the autumn, this will be our fourth trip over there, with
a host of great bands playing along with us, quite worrying
really as these bands are all great and big bands in their
own right, certainly bigger than us.
Yes the American marriage is for real. Bryza is marrying Angie,
a Psycho skin from San Francisco, on Saturday, 29th April
in Crawley.
The Americans do understand the lyrics on the album even although
a lot of the topics are very British, it really surprised
us all as I worried about the lyrics when I first gave our
songs to Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphys when he expressed
an interest.
The plans for the coming months are Camden Underworld on June
10th, a show in Crawley with the UK Subs, HITS in Spain and
then another US tour, this time as the headline band( scary)
and on top of this the show we played in May last year in
Kansas City has just come out as a live compilation album
on DSS records featuring two of our songs, Viagra and Francedance,
as well as songs from a load of great bands like the Wretched
Ones, Lower Class Brats,Patriot and the Fatskins to name a
few. As well as this we have been invited to put tracks on
two tribute albums, one for the Business and one for Cock
Sparrer. We were also asked to put tracks on tributes for
Last Resort and Infa Riot but we decided not too as we are
too dissimilar to Last Resort and did not fancy the other.
We also have two tracks on two other compilation albums featuring
all British bands, one on Streetheart run by Saxby of the
Warriors featuring a load of new UK bands and the other on
Anthemique featuring more of the same.
Ken Casey said he hopes we can tour Europe in the coming months
as guests with a big act but no definite plans have been made
to date.
SECOND ALBUM
There are plans for a second album, we have a two album deal
with TKO and the Dropkkicks and I have written most of it
already but I am unsure at present just when it will be out
but hopefully around the time we tour the US.
NEWS WINTER 2000
The band would like to thank everyone who took the time and
effort to attend the bands first headline appearance at the
London Underworld on Saturday night, 15th January, as it is
thanks to you that it was such a huge success. Thanks also
to the two superb bands who also agreed to appear, Red Flag
77 and Airbomb. We look forward to playing alongside you both
again in the near future. Thanks to the runaway success of
the show hopefully we can look forward to many more of the
new UK punk bands appearing at the venue in the near future.
The band are using a different bassist on the new US tour
as due to various reasons i.e.: work and financial pressure/commitments,
Spike will not be on the tour and with more touring already
in the pipeline for later in the year the band have decided
that it is better to address the situation now rather than
let the problem just get worse.
The band would like to thank Spike whole heartedly for his
superb effort and commitment to the band for the last 2 1/2
years which saw him play over 100 times for the band. We wish
him every success in the future and the next beers are on
us. Cheers mate.
TKO Records have hired a PR man to help promote the band on
the new US tour and his job is to contact record stores, radio
stations and magazines all along the route of the tour and
try and get any publicity/interviews he can to help boost
the publics awareness of the band. Initial response is very
encouraging.
The band have a new range of merchandise for the tour and
it will be appearing on the site shortly.
